The concept of the drive-in movie is as timeless and classic as cinema itself. Even just the thought of “the drive-in” invigorates nostalgic thoughts of simpler times and family togetherness. Driving by one you can also smell the popcorn in the air, hear the hum of crickets on warm summer nights, and taste an ice-cold root beer on a hot July evening.
Yes, it can’t get much better than a drive-in…until you discover the “dive-in.”
If you’re hoping the “dive-in” is exactly what it sounds like, fear not, because it is exactly what it sounds like: movie night in the pool.
It’s happening in Hobart on July 29 at the Hobart Pool at 7:00 PM, and the movie will be, arguably, the most epically told tale of an orange fish searching for their home, and subsequently, their true self: Finding Nemo.
It’s a cool concept, but even more importantly it presents the chance for the family to come together and enjoy a fun-filled movie night in a unique atmosphere they might not get to experience again.
This is just the 30-year-old-going-on-seven kid in me, but I can’t imagine reenacting some of the underwater scenes while in the water not being a highlight of my some kid’s summer.
Admission is only $3.00 for Hobart residents and $5.00 for non-residents, but is limited to the first 300 tickets sold. Tickets are available for sale at the Hobart City Pool: 810 W 10th St, Hobart, Indiana 46342.
And remember, even though the event is taking place after hours, regular pool rules still apply. For more details and information RSVP on the official Facebook event page here.
