Every year, Hobart Events hosts dozens of special events and gatherings throughout the city. From weekly events like Summer on the Lake to annual events like The Great Hobart Hunt, and holiday-based events like Pumpkins in the Park, a lot of work goes in behind the scenes to create a seamless event with fun, family-friendly atmospheres.
Because Hobart Events is a team of one, Special Events Coordinator Nikki Lopez couldn't make all the magic happen without the help of volunteers.
"Volunteering means everything," explained Lopez. "I do not have a staff so it is simply impossible to carry out events without the help of volunteers. It is also nice to have an outside perspective on things that we can improve on or feedback on what works well."
Volunteering comes in a lot of forms with Hobart Events. You can help out in the set-up, cleanup, carrying out of the event, manning booths, selling popcorn, driving the golf cart - there are a lot of avenues that volunteers can take to help make sure these events go right.
"Our volunteers help in so many ways!" continued Lopez. "You can help out by being an extra set of hands at events, helping with the planning process, having someone there that vendors can reach out to if they have questions if I am not around. You can even volunteer just being a happy face and talking with the people who come out and enjoy our events!"
Opportunities are available to volunteer with Hobart Events at just about any age too. There are opportunities for high school kids looking to fill community service hours, teachers looking to keep busy over summer vacation, and really anyone who just generally wants to be more involved in their community.
