Hammond YMCA’s Youth and Toddler Basketball Program Is Set to Start Soon

YMCA-Yellow-GreenThe fall season is in full swing, and the youth and toddler basketball program is about to begin. Registration for the co-ed league has started and will continue through November 2 at the Crossroads YMCA – Hammond Branch. The basketball program will be opened to both boys and girls ages 2-5 who are currently not in kindergarten. This year, the registration fee for members of the YMCA will be $37 and $67 for non-members. Practice sessions are set to begin on November 3.

The goal for this program is to teach the children the basic fundamentals of the game of basketball. The entire curriculum will be structured in a non-competitive format and will have the participants learning everything from how to pass a ball to having good sportsmanship.

“All kids will learn the basics the basketball such as dribbling, passing, shooting, and the importance of teamwork. However, each age group will progress according to their skill level,” says Program Director Jimmy Gonzales.
