Hammond Family YMCA Receives Gift from Walmart

Hammond-Family-YMCA-Receives-Gift-from-WalmartCrossroads YMCA’s Hammond Family YMCA was awarded a $1,000 gift from Walmart Hammond-5th Avenue through Walmart’s Community Grant program. The funds support programs for youth, families and seniors.

Crossroads YMCA consists of four branches: Southlake Family YMCA (Crown Point, IN), Griffith Family YMCA (Griffith, IN), Hammond Family YMCA (Hammond, IN), and Whiting Family YMCA (Whiting, IN). The Hammond Family YMCA serves 5,000 people from Lake County, IN, and Cook County, IL. The community benefits from this generous gift because the Y ensures everyone, regardless of age, income, or background will have the opportunity to learn, grow, and thrive. The Y offers programs, services, and initiatives focused on youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility. Support like this gift and others given to our annual campaign help the YMCA provide income-based scholarships to those who cannot afford the membership cost. The Y doesn’t turn anyone away due to an inability to pay.

“We are very happy to receive the Community Grant from Walmart. The Y is a community-based, charitable non-profit so this grant helps us continue to provide income-based scholarships and assistance for those who need it toward YMCA memberships and programs. We look forward to an on-going relationship with Walmart to strengthen our local communities.” said Laurie A. Halaska, CEO of Crossroads YMCA.
