Hammond Arts Center Partners With Famous Chicago Artist

sergio gomezHammond Arts Center partners with Chicago artist, Sergio Gomez, as curator for exhibits. Gomez is a true Chicago artist known for his art works of the anonymous representation of the self.

Sarah Smith of Hammond Arts Center said, “We are very grateful to have an artist of his magnitude come and support us here in Hammond. He’s a profound artist and I can’t thank him enough for all his works of art and his work as our curator.”

Gomez’s work has been subject of solo exhibitions in the United States, Italy and Vienna. He has participated in numerous group exhibitions in Spain, Sweden, Mexico and the US. His work can be found in private and public collections of the National Museum of Mexican Art, Brauer Art Museum, and the MIIT Museo Internazionale Italia Arte among others.

Gomez is a visual based artist, who currently resides in the south suburbs of Chicago. He is fond of his works, but says his passion is working with up and coming artists. “Chicago artists will always be my passion. The city raised me, cultivated my craft and now I want to give back to that city, Chicago”.

Gomez currently owns 33 Contemporary Gallery located in Chicago; he is the director of exhibitions at the Zhou B. Arts Center, an accomplished graphic designer and is a member of the art/design faculty for local community college: South Suburban.
