Habitat for Humanity to Participate in 2014 Day of Giving

Habitat-for-HumanityThe National Day of Giving, Tuesday May 6th, is a nationwide day of opportunity to support local non-profit organizations. On May 6th Crown Point Community Foundation will join communities from Northwest Indiana and across the country for a national day of local giving. Marking the centennial anniversary of community foundations, Give Local America invites Lake County residents to raise significant funds for causes right in their own backyard.

What makes Crown Point Community Foundation’s day of giving so significant is one of the areas local charities, Habitat for Humanity of Northwest Indiana is constructing a wheelchair ramp for a Crown Point resident at 341 S Main Street on this philanthropic day. The build will take place between the hours of 9am to 4pm. Furthermore, Yashica Milton, a family who is to receive a Habitat home later this year, will be going to the ramp site to help build the structure and give back to the community that has helped raise the funds for her Habitat home. Parishioners from Saint Mary’s Church of Crown Point and also employees from Prompt Medical Ambulance Service are also among the group that is to help build the structure.
