Mary Lux is a history teacher at CPHS and a favorite by many of the students. Throughout her years of teaching, Lux has earned the respect and admiration of her students, many of whom credit her with inspiring their academic journeys. This year, one of Lux’s past students dedicated a letter to her and read it at CPHS's Laude celebration night.

“I was totally honored when I heard the letter for the first time. It was very emotional to hear very kind things being said about his experience of being a student in my class,” Lux said.
Lux has always been deeply committed to helping shape the minds of her students. Reflecting on her journey, she shares how her passion for teaching has been a driving force in her life.
“I’ve always known that I was going to be a teacher since I was a little girl. In terms of becoming a history teacher, I had a really great one in high school who made me realize that I was capable of much more than I thought I was,” Lux said.
All in all, Lux’s teaching has helped many Crown Point students grow. If there is any one teacher deserving of this honor, it would undoubtedly be Lux.

Carson Granger is a senior at CPHS. He was the student who recently wrote and dedicated a letter to his former teacher, Mary Lux, for the impact she’s had on him.

“When I was thinking about who I should choose to write my letter to, I was thinking about who helped get me to where I am. Mrs. Lux was always there to help me with anything I needed and has always had my back,” Granger said.
Granger and Lux are great examples of a strong impact. During the Laude ceremony, Granger was also recognized with his Magna Laude stole, a testament to his hard work and academic achievements in his classes.
“Her class as a whole taught me how to deal with tough classes. It showed me that I could complete hard tasks as long as I put the time in. It’s brought me to where I am today, as a second semester senior,” Granger said.
Overall, Granger has worked very hard through his high school career. He plans to carry out this level of commitment throughout the next phase of his life.
