After a three-year hiatus, Great Lakes Orthopedics & Sports Medicine, P.C., is back in Crown Point. Their new office, located inside Community Healthcare System’s Stroke & Rehabilitation Center, brings them back to their roots.
“We started in Crown Point back in 2000, and had an office here for 17 years,” said Dr. Keith Pitchford, founder, president & CEO of Great Lakes Orthopedics & Sports Medicine. “We’re excited to finally find a venue that works for us and our patients. We’re just thrilled to be back.”
The new office, located on 10215 Broadway, is state-of-the-art and patient-centric– as with all of Community Healthcare System facilities.
“Community builds really elegant facilities,” Pitchford said. “It’s very well thought out and the office is essentially set up like an urgent care. The parking is convenient, the check-in is convenient, and they’ve done everything so well and with the patient in mind.”
After Great Lakes moved out of Crown Point a few years ago, their patients stayed with them because of how dedicated Pitchford and his team are to meeting their needs.
“We’re here for the patients, the patients aren’t here for us,” Pitchford said. “Our job is to shepherd the patient through the process. They come in, they’re scared, and they don’t know how things are going to shake out. We’re a concierge guiding them through that, taking a holistic approach, looking at their life and goals, understanding them as people, not just an ACL tear or whatever else.”
Tonya Felde has been a patient at Great Lakes Orthopedics & Sports Medicine for more than eight years. She came to their original Crown Point office when her son needed care after a wrestling injury, and returned for a number of injuries of her own. The new location impressed her right when she walked through the doors.
“I love it, I think it’s beautiful,” Felde said. “Dr. Pitchford and his team go above and beyond for their patients. Our family loves him, we refer our friends, and my son has plenty of wrestling friends that have seen him as well. I think that if you have any sort of injury, this is the place to turn to.”
Offering patients like Felde a more convenient experience is Pitchford’s main focus at the new location.
“I’m really happy to be closer to the patient base that we’ve built up over our 20 years in the area,” he said. “We’re happy to be so close to where it all started so many years ago. It’s a way to reinvent ourselves and start a new chapter.”
