General Insurance Services helps Region companies navigate ‘Risk & Business’

Now midway through its second year of publication, the General Insurance Services (GIS) ‘Risk & Business’ magazine has been assisting local businesses in navigating the waters of leadership, investment, and growth within their companies. Released twice a year—first in spring and then in fall—the magazine has already had positive reception from its readers.

Kara Moon, Marketing and Recruiting Coordinator for GIS, said that the magazine has been the successful result of an effort to become ever more present in the business community, particularly from an educational standpoint.

“We wanted to find a way to connect with businesses and organizations—there is a lot of information we knew we could share to help them grow and thrive,” Moon said.

‘Risk & Business’ is mailed to every business in the La Porte and Porter counties, and partner organizations in Merrillville and Hobart. The magazine includes articles sourced from published authors across the nation as well as contributions from the staff at GIS.

“Internally, we try to feature different individuals as contributors,” Moon said. “For instance, if there’s a niche topic and we have someone that specialize in that area, we’ll have them cover that topic for the magazine.”

Articles focus on a wide array of subject material, from the ins and outs of various insurance policies, investing in choices that lead to success, risk management, financial planning, employee benefits, and much more.

“So far, we’ve had overwhelmingly positive feedback,” Moon said. “The general response from businesses has been that the articles are very helpful and have been an asset in helping them navigate day-to-day challenges.”

All topics covered are intended to protect companies from current risks and future ones, shaping the future of like-minded and collaborative individuals and ultimately creating a thriving culture of economic prosperity in Northwest Indiana.

“I can’t say it enough—our mission is to secure the future of the communities we serve,” Moon said. “Any chance we have to educate and help businesses and organizations thrive, we consider a win-win. Their success is ultimately what’s going to have the greatest impact to our community.”
