Gary Mayor Karen Freeman-Wilson to Appear on CBS Evening News to Discuss Race Relations

city of gary sealGary, Indiana Mayor Karen Freeman-Wilson will appear on CBS Evening News, Wed. Dec. 10 at 5:30p.m. CST/ 6:30p.m. EST in a panel discussion about Race Relations in America. Last week, Freeman-Wilson was invited to a task force meeting hosted by President Obama to discuss community policing and race relations. She was invited to be interviewed by CBS Evening News in New York to discuss initiatives that Gary, Indiana is taking to address not only community policing but the city’s overall comeback in the areas of economic development, job creation and blight elimination.

“I was very honored to be selected to be a part of such a prestigious panel to discuss important topics that will impact the future of our cities,” said Freeman-Wilson. “Every city has its challenges, and it helps for us to come together on a national platform to share ideas and get feedback from viewers.”

Other participants on the panel included Mayor Lester E. Taylor III of East Orange, N.J., Mayor Ed Murray of Seattle, WA., and Mayor Carlos A. Gimenez of Miami-Dade, FL.
