Franciscan-St-Margaret-Health-Feeds-Area-Needy-through-Food-DonationFranciscan St. Margaret Health-Hammond officials recently donated 55 cases of canned food items to be distributed to clients of the First Baptist Church’s City Rescue Mission and the St. Joseph Church Food Kitchen. The items were delivered to the hospital by its cafeteria provider, Michigan-based Gordon Food Services, and later distributed. The donation idea was said to be that of Thomas Gryzbek, hospital president (far right), but he refused to take credit, stating, “It was everybody’s idea – it is just good to help the community.”

Also shown (from left) are John Barrett, Franciscan Alliance regional director of Human Resources; Brother George Ranft, of First Baptist Church; Matthew Teolis, DO, hospital vice president of medical affairs; Sister Marlene Shapley, hospital vice president of mission services; and Jennifer Britt, food services director for the hospital’s Dyer and Hammond campuses. Ranft said he was excited to receive the offerings, adding they will be used for lunch and dinner servings and the church food pantry.
