The Franciscan Senior Promise club was formed at Franciscan St. Margaret Health in the fall of 2011 to help provide people aged 55 and older up-to-date information on health issues and on how to make healthy life style choices.
It also offers opportunities to socialize and to make new friends for its membership, which has grown to 392.
“Our goal is to make this an interesting, vital club with opportunities for our members to learn about how to achieve or maintain better health and to have lots of fun,” said Sharon Malecha, club organizer and coordinator.
Meetings take place at 10 a.m. on the second Thursday of each month and alternate between the campuses of Franciscan St. Margaret Health-Dyer and Hammond.
Upcoming sessions include:
* June 12 – “Hearing loss,” at the Dyer campus, 24 Joliet St. (U.S. 30 and Hart Street)
