First Merchants Bank recently held a Blue Jeans Day for employees in Lake and Porter County. In return employees were invited to donate $5 to the Northwest Indiana Breast Care Center at Methodist Hospital to wear jeans to work for a day. This was part of a month long fundraising effort for the Paint the Town Pink campaign sponsored by the City of Whiting.
First Merchants Bank employees helped raise $420 for the Methodist Hospitals Foundation to benefit the Northwest Indiana Breast Care Center at Methodist Hospitals.
“When businesses from around the Region like First Merchants Bank make a donation like this to the Methodist Foundation, it reinforces how important our community’s health is to all of us.” said Jennifer Sanders, Manager at the Breast Care Center.
“Being the health care leaders we are, we are expected to take the lead in our region’s health care. But for companies whose primary job it is not, it’s just amazing.” said Sanders.
"The funds donated will help support the breast health initiatives of the Center. Our work requires resources in order to support ongoing services and to provide state of the art services in our Region," said Sanders.
“The level of employee participation shown by First Merchants Bank to stand up and help stamp out cancer goes to show we have warriors advocating for women's health everywhere, not just in healthcare.”
