Fall concerts set at Merrillville High School

Merrillville – Merrillville High School choir and orchestra students are ready to present their first concerts of the school year.

The public is invited to attend. Both events will take place in Reinhart Auditorium at Merrillville High School 276 E. 68th Pl., Door M at the back of the building.

"Many of these students have not participated in an ensemble since the pandemic began, and we are thrilled that they are making music again," said Melinda Reinhart, choir director and performing arts department chairperson.

The high school choir will hold its annual "Sneak Peek: Get your 'can' to the concert" program at 7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 30.

Each attendee is requested to bring a non-perishable food item as admission to the event to support the Ross Township Food Pantry. Choir students will offer a "Sneak Peek" at this year's newly formed ensembles through the music they have been working on since school started.

The fall orchestra concert is scheduled for 7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 7. Orchestra students will play their first concert under the direction of new Orchestra Director Mallory Julian. This event is free.

Masks are required to enter the high school. Both events are subject to change due to COVID-19 procedures.
