Emily Dyrek Wins Art Scholarship from the AACPC

2014-Scholarship-Winner-Emily-DyrekChesterton High School senior, Emily Dyrek, won a $500 art scholarship from the Association of Artists and Craftsman of Porter County to be used towards her art education at IU Northwest. Emily will be pursuing an undergraduate degree in either 3-D animation or in illustration, leading to a graduate degree in animation at a major art school in Chicago. Her goal is to work in the movie industry, bringing characters to life to entertain others. She says that no matter what, she'll have art as part of her life. "Are is not just a hobby, it is a passion. It is what gets my heartbeat increasing and my imagination going wild. It is such an amazing thing to be able to take something that you have imagined in your head, and put it down on paper for the whole world to see".

Each year, the AACPC invites Porter County high school seniors to apply for this scholarship. The award is given to a student pursuing a degree in an art-related field. To apply, seniors much submit a letter of intent, sketchbooks, and a portfolio of their work. The AACPC is connected to the Chesterton Art Center, located at 115 S. 4th St., Chesterton, IN 46304.
