Edgewater Health will open its new Cedar Lake Clinic, located in the Summer Winds Plaza in Cedar Lake, in May. The new clinic will focus on women's health, but will also offer basic primary care services to all.
“We are excited to join the Cedar Lake community,” said Dr. Danita Johnson Hughes, CEO of Edgewater Health. “We saw a need in the community that is perfect for Edgewater Health’s approach: We believe it is essential to treat the whole person rather than just a condition. We look forward to expanding our services to this community and establishing new relationships at the Cedar Lake Clinic.”
Primary care includes routine checkups and screenings, as well as chronic disease management and wellness education. Primary care is essential to preventing disease, keeping healthcare costs low, and improving quality of life.
Construction has already begun on the Summer Winds Plaza space, according to Brett McDermott of Latitude Commercial, which provides commercial real estate services throughout Northwest Indiana and the South Chicago Suburbs. Latitude Commercial represented both Edgewater Health and the landlord in the transaction.
“Edgewater was looking for a location in Cedar Lake for quite some time before focusing in on Summer Winds,” said McDermott. “The Cedar Lake community currently has a need for Healthcare services, and we thought this was an ideal location to open the office.”
