High-speed Internet is becoming more of a necessity than a luxury in the 21st century. Businesses need it to operate properly, students need it to complete homework, and medical, governmental, and educational institutions are relying on it to ensure that things run smoothly at all times.
Although it might be in high demand, high-speed Internet is still not available for everyone. This causes strain in many different ways for communities.
The city leaders of East Chicago are recognizing this and would like to get feedback from its citizens. East Chicago is working towards providing more options for businesses, nonprofits, schools, and residents in the way of high-speed Internet. But first, the city leaders are interested in hearing from its citizens about their wants and needs when it comes to Internet connection, as well as how they believe the city should move forward with the Internet project.
Areas of importance are how high-speed Internet will affect the economic development, educational development, and community development of East Chicago. The goal of the survey is to gain insight from citizens regarding what is important for the city to focus on as plans progress for high-speed Internet.
You can share your point of view with the city by taking the survey here.
The survey is being conducted by NITCO/Yates Engineering, as part of a fiber optic Pre-Design Strategy funded and approved by The City of East Chicago. The data from the survey will be used to help the city plan the utilization of its current Fiber Network.
