Earl Nymeyer of Southlake Kia: Honesty and Respect Are What Makes the Sale

Earl Nymeyer has been working with Southlake Kia for 15 years now, and has been in the car sales business for over 37 years, so he has picked up some serious expertise in the industry and witnessed a lot of change. One thing that has stayed constant for Nymeyer is his passion for the people he sells to.

“Talking to people is the most rewarding thing about this job. Finding the right car that suits their needs and knowing you are treating them with respect, because a lot of stores don’t. I treat them the way I’d want to be treated,” said Nymeyer.

Nymeyer has found an environment which allows that attitude to flourish in Southlake Kia, which takes a family-based approach to their business.

“The model here is that we treat you like family. Everyone gets along well. If a customer comes in not particularly looking for a car and they find the one they want, I know I did my job. I didn’t sell the car, I found the car that fits their needs, desires, and wants,” said Nymeyer.

This outlook is core to how Nymeyer approaches the job, and a reason for his, and the dealership’s, success. Nymeyer doesn’t try to pressure his customers, he prefers to treat them with respect and guide them in making the choice right for them, a vital attribute in the industry.

“I don’t like to just sell somebody a car, I’m not your typical sales person. I want repeat customers and referrals are also huge to me. Half of my business is referrals and repeat customers,” said Nymeyer.

When Nymeyer is off the job, he enjoys spending time with his family at home in Crown Point and as he and his wife are now empty nesters, those family occasions are especially precious. Living in Northwest Indiana, Nymeyer also likes the closeness of everything in the Region and the diverse communities that dot the Region.

“You can go 15 minutes that way and you’re in the country, and that way you’re in the city. Everything is close by, it’s great,” said Nymeyer.

Nymeyer also likes to get involved with the charity events that Southlake participates in throughout the year, including a past Breast Cancer Awareness Dinner.

“Survivors came in, we set everything up for the women to help survivors, it was great fun,” said Nymeyer.

With a salesman like Nymeyer, it is easy to understand why Southlake Kia has earned such a great reputation in the community!
