Dylan Shelton Brings “Sleepy Hollow: Ichabod Returns” to Bulldog Park

The City of Crown Point and the Crown Point Community Library are pleased to welcome Puppeteer Dylan Shelton to Bulldog Park for a spin on Washington Irving’s classic short story, “Legend of Sleepy Hollow.”

“Sleepy Hollow: Ichabod Returns” follows lanky schoolmaster Ichabod Crane as he returns to Sleepy Hollow reenacting his adventures through the silly forest and recounting the events that led to his mysterious disappearance. This show only tours in October, providing the Crown Point and surrounding communities a unique opportunity to attend a life-size Halloween puppet show with audience participation.

Gates will open at 5:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 14, and the show will begin at 6 p.m. at the Franciscan Health Amphitheatre at Bulldog Park. Admission to this event is free, and concessions will be available for purchase.

Attendees should bring a blanket or chair to watch the show.

Dylan Shelton is a creator of puppet theatre, writing and directing original puppet performances that tour across the country. Shelton began his career at Cincinnati, Ohio-based Madcap Puppets in 2002 and has written and directed more than 30 shows with the company as its artistic director.

Recently, Shelton created and directed a puppet performance of “Pulcinella” for the Cincinnati Chamber Orchestra. He also directed a puppet version of the opera “Amahl and the Night Visitors” with the same company.

Shelton was the puppetry captain for $martpath, an Emmy Award-winning web series for children. He graduated from Wilmington College of Ohio with a bachelor’s degree in theatre and received a master’s degree in acting from Ohio University. He is a member of Improv Cincinnati, Cin City Comedy and a founding member of OTRimprov.

“We are always looking for new ways to engage the community,” Entertainment Superintendent Diana Bosse said. “Hosting this interactive, life-size puppet show is another way to highlight the premier entertainment venue we have in Bulldog Park while providing families with a fun, free night out.”
