Dyer Methodist Hosts Performance of Dickens’ “A Christmas Carol”

GrantFitchAsScroogeProfessional storyteller Grant Fitch will present the Charles Dickens classic tale of hope and redemption “A Christmas Carol” in a one-man show on Sunday, Dec.21 at 6 p.m. in the sanctuary at Dyer United Methodist Church, 2016 Church St. Dyer, Ind.

Fitch draws the audience into the familiar story as he embodies more than 30 characters from Scrooge to the members of the Crachit family. There are some surprises in this performance because it encompasses more of the original Dickens text.

Fitch said, “We get the interior monologue from Scrooge that we don't usually hear - his first thoughts on reaching the future, and why he didn't immediately realize the hated dead man was himself.”

He also shared that audiences really seem to get a kick out of him "talking to himself" as Scrooge and Marley's Ghost, or playing all the Cratchit family at once.

This show will be performed in two 45-minute acts with one intermission. The program is a fundraiser to support mission projects of Dyer United Methodist Church. Admission is free. There will be a freewill offering. For more information contact the church office at (219) 865-8947 or office@dyerumc.org.
