Liberty Intermediate School and their Student Council hosted their annual pumpkin decorating contest recently. The kids have a week to decorate a pumpkin in a creative way. All the classes come up with amazing ideas but Sheri Simmons's fifth grade class won with a perfect score of 25 to be the winner for fifth grade. Teacher Troy Young's sixth grade class, not pictured, won for the sixth grade for turning their pumpkin into a clown.

Duneland-Schools-Update-11-10-17_02 Liberty Elementary Young Citizen Award
The Duneland Exchange Club recently presented Liberty Elementary fourth grade student Han Phan, front, center right, with the Young Citizenship Award. Also pictured front left, Han’s brother Lennon Phan, grade 1. Back, left to right, her teacher Jason Conway, Principal Christy Jarka, her parents Cu Ly and Bao Phan, her grandparents Ngoc and Al Robinson, and Duneland Exchange club representative and presenter Dr. Dan Keilman. This award is given to a fourth grade student who is an all around good citizen. The club presents this award to one student at each of the five Duneland elementary schools, at the sixth grade level at the each of the intermediate schools and at the eighth grade level at Chesterton Middle School.

Liberty Elementary third grader Addison Danielson, daughter of veteran Matthew Liames, proudly shows off her patriotic t-shirt at the school’s annual veterans day program on Friday morning. Her shirt reads, ‘Most girls dream of meeting their heroes. I was raised by mine. Signed Veteran Daughter.
