Lillian Kearby joined the Duneland Exchange Club from Chesterton High School as Student of the Month for February 2015. Lillian is a senior at CHS who moved to Chesterton from Portage ½ way through her sophomore year. She is a very outgoing person and makes friends with everyone and anyone. From a young age, she began including kids who may have otherwise not been, in activities and became friends with a lot of the “outcasts” throughout school. She quickly learned how rewarding this was and made it her goal to give back as much as she could to others in need and the community.
She’s organized multiple food drives, gathered supplies for the Gabriel Horn Homeless Shelter in Portage, and works with mentally challenged children at Westchester Intermediate School. She played softball for 8 years and volleyball for 4. She is a new member to the Natural Helpers Club and is excited for their retreat this year. She is definitely attending the University of Indianapolis when she graduates; they have awarded her a $44,000 scholarship. She plans to study psychology and become an Occupational Therapist. Good Luck Lillian!
