Don Quijote Restaurante Brings Awareness and Support to the Table for VNA Meals on Wheels of Porter County

The Don Quijote Restaurante Benefit Dinner, held on August 14, brought
together nearly one hundred donors to help raise funds for the VNA Meals on Wheels of Porter County program, a division of VNA Hospice NWI. The event was a tremendous success and raised $50,000 to support local seniors.
Don Quijote owners Carlos Rivero and Elena Jambrina graciously provided the food, wine, and their restaurant for the event. They also offered a $2,000 donation match from the Don Quijote Foundation.

“We are so grateful for everything that Carlos, Elena, and all the staff at Don Quijote did to help make this event a success,” said Bob Franko, President & CEO of VNA Hospice NWI. “They bring a whole lot more to the table and our community than just delicious cuisine. They bring a much-needed commitment to service and making our community a better place to live. The VNA Meals on Wheels program would not be where it is today without thesupport of everyone at Don Quijote.”

The benefit dinner was not the first time that Don Quijote Restaurante has given back to the community. The restaurant has been partnering with and supporting local organizations in Northwest Indiana like VNA Hospice NWI for decades. When asked about the success of the benefit dinner, Rivero said, “I thank everybody for being so generous and helping me
accomplish this.”

The VNA Meals on Wheels of Porter County program helps seniors and other homebound residents maintain independence by providing a wellness check and up to two nutritious meals per day. VNA Hospice NWI provides nearly $100,000 in community care through the VNA Meals on Wheels of Porter County program each year. To learn more, visit
