The Duneland Family YMCA will host the 5th Annual Dancing Like The Stars on Saturday, November 12th at Blue Chip Casino Stardust Event Center. Tickets are on sale now at www.dunelandymca.org where you can purchase tickets in support of your favorite celebrity Star or for general admission, vote for your favorite dancer or make a donation to the Duneland Y.
This year’s theme is “Peace, Love & the Duneland YMCA” featuring music from the 1970s when flower power reigned. Take a trip down memory lane and get your groove on by dressing the part. Dig out your old headbands, go-go boots and tie-dye, and arrive ready to travel back in time to the Age of Aquarius! Join the fun as you watch this year’s dancers compete for top honors, along with performances by the Y Fitness Instructors and returning Stars Lindsay Trout and Jim Bratsakis. The doors open at 5:00 pm with a social hour, dinner including beautiful dessert trays provided by Delta Theta Tau and an evening of entertainment guaranteed to blow your mind!
The 2016 Stars include Orlee Glazer, owner of Barre + Beyond; Gary Gordon, Associate Professor at Illinois Institute of Art; Cory Helmbrecht, a Financial Advisor at Lakeside Wealth Management; Jody Klein, a Medical Assistant at Lakeshore Bone & Joint Institute; Brock Lloyd, an Edward Jones Financial Advisor; Vicky Stevers, Ophthalmic Technician at Zale Eye Center and Zumba instructor at the Duneland Y; Clare Travis, Senior Living Director at Symphony of Chesterton; Leigh Westergren, Employee Benefits Specialist at Anton Insurance; and Jon Winey of Winey Insurance Agency. All of our Stars have been paired with professional dance partners from the Dimensions School of Social Dance of Chesterton.
There are several ways contestants can win a prize: The Judge's Choice Award honors the best performance of the evening. The Big Bucks Award will be won by the contestant who raises the most money for the event. The People's Choice Award is determined by the number of popularity votes received by each Star. Votes can be purchased for $5 each by contacting your contestant of choice or at the event. The Team Spirit Award, which will be awarded to the contestant whose tables lend the most visual enhancement to the evening.
Every aspect of this exciting and enjoyable evening raises money to ensure a brighter future for those in our community in need of assistance for Y programs and services. The Duneland Family YMCA believes that its programs and services should be available to everyone regardless of age, background, ability or income. The Duneland Y is a charitable nonprofit focusing on youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility, and is a United Way of Porter County Partner Agency.
