Frozen custard, the Easter Bunny and an Easter egg hunt -the stuff kids' dreams are made of, right? This was the scene at Culver’s of Valparaiso on Saturday. Kids from all over Northwest Indiana came out to celebrate Easter and search the restaurant for delicious treats.
“We do our Egg-stravaganza for kids of different age groups, they have different prizes inside, and we also gave away some kids meals and custard samples. Culver’s manager Marilyn Christman said. “We also played a few games like toss the egg. It’s just a fun day for the kids and a way for us to give back to the community, we’re always coming up with ways to do that.”
At 3pm parents stood, cameras in hand, snapping their shutters repeatedly as their little ones scurried around the restaurant’s parking lot in search of brightly colored Easter eggs and the sweet treats inside them.
“When we arrived the kids were able to go out and get some eggs. They really enjoyed it and now we’re just getting a bite to eat and enjoying some custard. It was very generous of Culver’s to provide the space and the eggs for their holiday celebration. The kids defiantly had a good time,” Russ Donofry, a parent attending the event, said.
After searching every inch of the parking lot, the kids all gathered around the Easter Bunny and Scoopie, Culver’s adorable ice cream cone shaped mascot. A quick bite to eat followed by a tasty custard treat, and play time was back in full swing with a coloring contest.
“We got our picture taken with the Easter Bunny and I got an egg from him. It was fun! I wish I could have found more eggs but that’s okay, I got 15 so that’s pretty good. My mom said I can have one piece of candy a day when we get home,” Ben Jansich, a 10 year old attending the event, said.
By the end of all the festivities the kids were all tuckered out, but this was surely a fun day they won’t soon forget. Next year’s Easter egg hunt will surely be eagerly anticipated. Stop by Culver’s in Valparaiso; you never know what fun event they might have up their sleeves. While you’re there grab a bite to eat and try one of their signature custard flavors!
