culvers-breastcancer-1Known for their delicious custard and monthly philanthropic events, the Valparaiso Culver's restaurant also does their part to support Breast Cancer Awareness.

On Thursday, Culver's held their Breast Cancer Awareness day with 10 percent of the day's sales being donated to the American Cancer Society in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month. During the month of October, the restaurant collected donations for the cause. The staff, motivated and moved by the cause, held employee contests during the month to raise money to benefit research.

culvers-breastcancer-2"We enjoy giving back to the community and being involved in the community," said Denny Dalka, Culver's Office Manager. "Cancer touches everybody and this year we wanted to focus on breast cancer awareness."

Pink ribbons and streamers adorned the restaurant as diners enjoyed the delicious food and the special red raspberry "Flavor of the Day." Free custard samples were offered throughout the day. The staff, decked out in their finest pink accessories, happily greeted and assisted guests.

culvers-breastcancer-3Scoopie, the beloved and ever popular Culver's mascot, made his appearance during the day offering high-fives, hugs, and photo opportunities. The guests enjoyed trying their luck at the "donation wheel" where everyone was a winner of the great prizes available.

"The out-pouring in Valparaiso is amazing," said Dalka. "They're a very giving community. We want to do our part in helping find a cure for cancer."
