The students get a lot of hands-on time with their robots.”

The Crown Point Underdogs took home three trophies at the VEX Qualifier in Portage IN this Saturday. Team 1233C, which includes students Jami Pryde, Ryan Milly, Miles Vickers, and Nicholas Nunez, took home the Judges’ Trophy. This trophy recognizes achievement in Engineering Process and Sportsmanship.

Team 1233F, made up of students Jake Dyrkacz, Jake Rowell, Steven Boyll, Jack Targett, and Jordan Williams, won Tournament Champions. This is their 3rd Tournament Championship of the season and guarantees them a spot at the State Tournament at Lucas Oil Stadium.

Benjamin Baker, Danielle Turner, Blake Deck, Brad Kozlowski, and Zachary Carpenter, team 1233A, won the Excellence Award, which recognizes achievement across all the VEX categories including: Engineering Process, Design, Performance, and Sportsmanship. This award also includes a guaranteed spot at the State Tournament.

“The Excellence Award is the best overall award,” senior Brad Kozloweski said. “The judges consider our engineering process notebooks, sportsmanship and programming along with the actual ‘bot.”
