Live music, vendors, and good times abounded on the first day of Crown Point’s Oktoberfest. The festival also featured a beer garden. Friends and family gathered to welcome in the fall while enjoying eats and drinks from vendors.
“We expanded Oktoberfest this year to be a two-day festival,” said Diana Bosse, Crown Point Entertainment Superintendent. “We begin planning our events at the beginning of each year and are always looking for new ways to enhance the community’s experience.”
Over 20 vendors are at the festival, with some like Crown Brewing and Off Square Brewing offering specials during the festival. With so many local businesses as vendors, Oktoberfest provided a great opportunity to support small businesses in the area.
“I am looking forward to seeing all the great offerings from our local businesses,” said Bosse. “Our local business community really comes together during events like Oktoberfest, and it’s great to see everyone supporting our small businesses!”
The many vendors also played into the German holiday with German-inspired offerings and decorations. It is a great example of the tremendous relationship the city has with its local businesses.
“The City has a great working relationship with our local business community, we’re excited to see the German-inspired offerings,” said Bosse. “This is the most vendors we have had for Oktoberfest, ever.”
Having events like Oktoberfest gives the community to get together and enjoy the park.
“Events like Oktoberfest bring our community together in one place,” said Mayor Pete Land. “I love seeing the Franciscan Health Pavilion at Bulldog Park filled with people supporting our local businesses and enjoying local live music.”
Arguably the most important thing that Mayor Land wants people to take home are two fun days filled with memories.
“We’re excited to have an expanded event this year and hope the community is able to have two fun-filled days at Bulldog Park,” said Land. “I love seeing the community come out to support our local businesses and musicians. Oktoberfest brings friends, families, and neighbors outdoors for one last hurrah before the event season winds down at Bulldog Park.”
Coming in the winter, Bulldog Park will become an ice skating rink. However, Saturday marks the perfect time to enjoy a different side of Bulldog Park before the rink opens.
“Oktoberfest is one of our last events under the pavilion at Bulldog Park before the ice rink opens for the season,” said Bosse. “Come enjoy food from our local restaurants, specialty brews, hayrides, live music and more!”
Oktoberfest continues tomorrow starting at noon and runs until 10 p.m. Three bands will be performing starting with Matt Wagner’s German Brass Band, Classic Rock band Dyllyngyr, and AC/DC Tribute Bonfire.
