CompressAir leading provider of Vanair compressors in fire trucks, other service vehicles

When you see a fire truck or NIPSCO vehicle on the road, you're probably not thinking about the local companies that keep them running. CompressAir is one of them.

CompressAir has been servicing the compressed air industry for more than 30 years and is the leading provider in the Northern Indiana and Chicagoland areas. Family-owned and operated, CompressAir has the most notable brands of compressors, air treatment, and accessories available. While maybe more known for selling and maintaining industrial air compressors, CompressAir provides customers with mobile, Vanair selections as well. CompressAir is an authorized dealer for Vanair.

Vanair has been providing movable power solutions since 1972 and offers the most comprehensive product line of vehicle-mounted air compressors, generators, welders, hydraulics, chargers/boosters, engine starters, and custom products in the world.

“Their units typically go on any type of service truck or fire truck,” said Brittany Fisher, Marketing Specialist for CompressAir. “Basically, they’re used for most road assistance service trucks.”

Vanair products serve customers in industries such as the mechanic and service industry, municipalities, utilities, railroad maintenance, Department of Defense, and construction.

“We just started working with them around four years ago, and they take up around 10 percent of our business,” Fisher said. “We’re glad to be able to be an authorized dealer for Vanair.”

Because Vanair plays such a large part in the service industry, it’s important that their products are well made so that they are able to get customers out of sticky situations.

“Many utility companies, especially NIPSCO, use the Vanair products and have been long-time customers,” Fisher said. “They don’t get any complaints.”

Vanair Manufacturing was initially known as Sullair PTO and started out as a division of Sullair Corporation. In 1984 Sullair PTO became Vanair Manufacturing, who moved to Michigan City in 2010. They are most known for the vehicle-mounted 185 CFM underdeck rotary screw air compressor. This product was revolutionary, and still is, because it eliminated the need for a separate engine-driven tow-behind compressor, which freed up the vehicle’s hitch, saving weight, increasing valuable bed space, and reducing maintenance and insurance costs while increasing mobility.

Everything Vanair does is bound by one simple goal, “to be your strategic resource mobile power solution provider for life, so you can perform at your best”.
