Community Healthcare System welcomes practitioners to physician network

 Community Healthcare System recently welcomed two practitioners to the Community Care Network, Inc. (CCNI) team of physicians. The specialties these physicians represent include infectious disease and neuropsychology. The CCNI group of physicians are closely affiliated with Community Healthcare System’s hospitals: Community Hospital in Munster, St. Catherine Hospital in East Chicago, St. Mary Medical Center in Hobart and specialty hospital, Community Stroke & Rehabilitation Center in Crown Point.

Infectious disease physician, Mohammad Alkhatib, MD, completed his internship, residency and fellowship at Seton Hall University/Saint Michael’s Medical Center, Newark, NJ. He received his medical degree from Jordan University of Sciences and Technology. He is board certified in infectious disease and internal medicine. He is on staff at St. Mary Medical Center. Neuropsychologist Thomas Cothran, PhD, completed his internship, residency and fellowship at Rush University Medical Center in Chicago. He earned his doctorate from the Illinois Institute of Technology. He is on staff at Community Hospital, Munster, with an office in Schererville. As a neuropsychologist, Cothran assesses, evaluates and treats illnesses and injuries of the brain that affect cognitive functions and behaviors. Some conditions that he specializes in include cancer, concussion, lasting effects of COVID-19, movement disorders, PTSD, schizophrenia, seizure disorders and stroke. He is accepting new patients.
