Community Healthcare System announces Chief Financial Officer

Gregg Ferlin, CPA, has been promoted to Chief Financial Officer for Community Foundation of Northwest Indiana, Inc. (CFNI), parent company to the hospitals of Community Healthcare System. For the past nine years, he has served as vice president CFNI Finance with responsibilities that include strategic financial planning, business development, physician relations and hospital administration.

For Community Hospital, Munster, St. Catherine Hospital, East Chicago, St. Mary Medical Center, Hobart and specialty hospital Community Stroke & Rehabilitation Center, Crown Point, as well as physician practices and Hartsfield Village, Ferlin developed processes leading to improved accounting, reporting and workflows.

Ferlin joined the Community Healthcare System in 2011 as director of accounting, managing the organizations’ investment portfolio, budgets, accounts payable and payroll, and the bond issues and rating agency grades.

Prior to joining CFNI and Community Healthcare System, Ferlin served for nearly 10 years as controller for Kerasotes Showplace Theatres (KST) and later as a financial consultant assisting with integrating the acquisition of KST into $4 billion AMC Theatres.

He has a bachelor of science in business administration from the University of Illinois, Chicago, with a major in accounting. He is a registered Certified Public Accountant in the State of Illinois with memberships in both the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) and the Illinois CPA Society (ICPAS).

Ferlin replaces Mary Ann Shacklett who retires July 9 after a 36 year career with Community Foundation of Northwest Indiana, Inc. and Community Healthcare System.

“With Gregg’s extensive experience in finance and accounting, he will continue to play an integral part in the planning, directing and controlling activities at the hospitals of Community Healthcare System and CFNI’s other entities to help us achieve our long and short-term goals and strategic objectives,” said Donald P. Fesko, President and Chief Executive Officer, Community Foundation of Northwest Indiana, Inc.
