Come to the 2014 Pierogi Fest!

Whiting-PierogiFest-2013-1For three days only, Whiting will become the pierogi hub of Northwest Indiana. The Annual Pierogi Fest will take place Friday July 25 through Sunday July 27, 2014 in the downtown area of Whiting.

The fest is presented by the Whiting Robertsdale Chamber of Commerce and it draws nearly 200,000 visitors yearly. The history and the heritage of the area are celebrated with lots of pierogies, live music and entertainment, and great people.

Come out and meet Mr. Pierogi and his foodie friends, hang out with some wily bushas (grandmothers), and eat your fill of one of the world's greatest foods for three full days!

There is a lot on the schedule during these three days, so there is no shortage of things to see and do at the fest. On Friday night the famous International Polka Parade will make its way down the main drag in Whiting where you can see the Pierogi Queen and the precision lawn-mower drill team as well as other colorful characters. Saturday be sure to take in the Mr. Pierogi Songfest where Mr. Pierogi and his Pieroguettes serenade the crowds with the Pierogi festival anthem, sang to the tune of "Matilda" and "Whiting, Indiana" song, "I Will Deep Fry," "Anything You Can Eat, I Can Eat More Of" and the ditty from "Guys & Pierogies". On Sunday take part in the Pierogi Toss and Pierogi Eating Contest. Where else and when else is pierogi flinging and gorging celebrated?

And for that matter, where else can you find the word "pierogi" this many times in one article? Don't try looking because that is a poor use of your time. A good use of your time is the Pierogi Fest. Go there! Eat! Have fun! Na zdrowie!
