City of Lake Station gives back to community with recent baseball field renovations

City of Lake Station just recently completed the renovation of the Four Winds Park baseball fields, and to say this is a big next step for the community would be an understatement. Cities are constantly improving infrastructure and rebuilding necessary things like roads, sewers, and bridges. However, it’s the community-oriented things in a city that truly make a difference in people’s lives and make families want to call a certain place home. By revitalizing the Four Winds fields, Lake Station officials aren’t just helping the city grow, they’re showing the community that they care.

“It’s very exciting. We’re taking steps in the right direction and we’re happy that we’re finally able to take steps toward creating something that the community can use. It’s not like a sewer or a road that goes forgotten; it’s something tangible that a lot of people will be able to incorporate into their daily lives, and we’re excited for that,” said Jack Daniels, director of communications for Lake Station Mayor’s Office.

Ever since Lake Station got its ARP funds, city officials have been looking for ways to give back to the community and focus on improving people’s lives. Investing money in the parks department was the perfect start for this and developing Four Winds Park became a very important goal.

“Four Winds hasn’t gotten nearly enough attention in the past few years. We really want to see people enjoy Four Winds and appreciate it for what it is. It’s a huge space and it has so much to offer,” said Daniels.

To revamp the old, charming baseball fields, the city teamed up with the construction team that worked on the Railcats baseball stadium and got to work. Now that the fields are finished and look amazing, the city has more plans to keep updating the park and make it the perfect place for the city’s youth to partake in sports.

“Right now, a lot of our youth sports and activities rely on other cities. People have to go out of town, and that’s a shame because Lake Station has so much to offer. We have two great high schools, several wonderful elementary schools, and a fantastic dispersion of age groups, and we don’t want to see them have to travel, so we’re taking every step that we can to make sure that they have the things that they need to grow and be stimulated here in their own city,” said Daniels.

At the end of the day, Lake Station Mayor’s Office strives to make sure the people of Lake Station have everything they need to be happy and successful. The renovation of the Four Winds baseball fields is another great steppingstone in achieving this goal, but there will be plenty more wonderful things to come.

“This isn’t the first step, and it isn’t going to be the last step either. We’re always working to develop new ideas and find ways to better the lives of people in the community,” said Mayor Bill Carroll.

Lake Station Mayor’s Office is incredibly grateful to everyone who helped bring new life into the Four Wind Park baseball fields. They’re also thankful for all the hardworking people in Lake Station who help make the city a better place.

“I really want to thank our city employees for all of the maintenance that they do and the constant attention that they give our parks and our city. They truly make Lake Station a well-maintained, clean, positive place to live,” said Mayor Carroll.
