City of Gary to Mark National Night Out on Tuesday, August 5th

city of gary sealThe City of Gary and Gary Police Department will once again host National Night Out, Tuesday, August 5 at Froebel Park (15th and Madison St.) from 6:00p.m. – 9:00p.m. The entire event will be dedicated to the memory of Gary Police Officer Jeffrey Westerfield, who recently was killed in the line of duty. Family members will be on hand to make remarks and participate in a special tribute to the fallen officer.

The purpose of National Night Out is to heighten crime and drug prevention awareness, generate support for and participation in anti-crime efforts, strengthen neighborhood spirit and police-community partnerships while sending a message to criminals that our neighborhoods will no longer tolerate crime!

The event will include giveaways, games, music, food, exercise demos and informational vendors, movies in the park, voter registration, safety tips, fingerprinting, K-9 demos, and much more.
