City of Crown Point hosts unforgettable Hometown Jams concert, builds community spirit

The first show in this summer’s Hometown Jams concert series bolstered community pride on Sunday, June 25. Over 2,000 country music enthusiasts gathered in Crown Point’s Bulldog Park to rock the night away to Chris Janson and celebrate the beginning of another opportunity that makes the City of Crown Point a bustling place to be.

Tyrus Joseforsky, founder of Hometown Jams, has strived to bring big-name concerts to rural communities so that everyone has the chance to enjoy the music they love right where they live.

“Oftentimes, suburban communities like Crown Point have a lot of potential for live entertainment and want to host concerts, but the big shows end up going to larger cities like Chicago. Our goal is to bring those shows here into the suburban markets so that more people have the opportunity to enjoy them. We want to bring big shows right to your hometown,” said Joseforsky.

As a Regioner himself, Joseforsky knows that no community deserved an opportunity to host a concert series more than Northwest Indiana. He reached out to the City of Crown Point to see if the city would be interested in hosting, and the city was immediately on board.

“We’ve been eyeing this market for years now, and we know that the City of Crown Point has been eager to host. It’s great to finally make it happen and see it all come together. This venue is fantastic, and the City of Crown Point has been a great partner and awesome to work with,” said Joseforksy.

The concert’s attendees were just as excited to have such an awesome opportunity take place in their community. Almost everyone showed up right when the gates opened to stake out the perfect spot to view the show. Everyone could feel the anticipation build as Jonny James and Tim Montana put on incredible opening performances.

By the time Janson took the stage, one look at the crowd was all anyone needed to know that the first Hometown Jams concert was a remarkable success. Kids sat on their parents’ shoulders beaming with excitement, couples held one another as they swayed to the beat, and friends raised their glasses together, toasting an evening no one will forget anytime soon.

“When you come to events like this in smaller cities, you get to see real people and real smiles. That means a lot to us. When you go to a big city, you can get a bit lost in the crowds, but here in places like Crown Point, everything feels real and down to earth,” said Joseforsky.

Of course, the night couldn’t have been a hit without the support of countless sponsors including the Mascot Hall of Fame, Indiana Beverage, Purdue University Northwest, South Shore CVA, and Strack & Van Til.

“We have a lot of great sponsors from all across Northwest Indiana. They’ve been amazing and great partners, so I really want to thank them for everything they’ve done. I also want to give a big thanks to the City of Crown Point for allowing us to do this. It’s been awesome,” said Joseforsky.

For everyone who missed out on the first Hometown Jams concert, the City of Crown Point has plenty more opportunities in store. An Elle King concert will be held on July 6 and is already expected to have an even bigger turnout. A Cooper Alan concert will also be held on August 3, so grab your tickets and head on out to Bulldog Park for shows that will make you feel proud to live in such a close-knit community.

“These events truly speak for themselves. Roughly 50% of our attendees are repeat attendees, and everyone always has a great time. We can’t wait to give everyone more nights to remember,” said Joseforsky.
