CHS 2013 Homecoming Focused on Raising Funds for Charity

Chesterton-TrojansFor the second year in a row, Chesterton High School and the CHS Student Council has shaped a homecoming week focused on raising funds for charity and highlighting important causes. Spirit week days highlight the causes with Monday as Support Children's Charities Day (Make a Wish) - wear blue; Tuesday, Support our Armed Forces day (USO) - wear green; Wednesday, Support Domestic Animal Charities Day (Humane Society) - wear blue; Thursday, Support Wildlife Charities (National Geographic) - wear yellow; Friday, Support CHS - wear maroon & gold.

To further highlight the spirit days and theme, CHS Student Council is again forgoing the traditional homecoming float for a unique project focused on charity and community - Homecoming Playhouses. Each of the five playhouses will be constructed by the CHS Building Trades Program. Funding for each building has come from sponsorship by local businesses.

Students and staff will provide the decorative design for each house based on a selected charity. Houses will then be showcased to the community during the Homecoming Parade and before the Homecoming football game on September 13th. Houses will be placed up for auction on eBay with 100% of the proceeds of the auction going for the corresponding charity.

The senior Class of 2014 is for the children's charity Make a Wish and is sponsored by Brian C. McGue, DDS; Class of 2015 is USO Support Our Troops sponsored by Construction Advancement Foundation; Class of 2016 is domestic animals for The Humane Society sponsored by Trout Glass and Mirror; Class of 2017 is Wildlife Charity for National Geographic sponsored by Metropolitan Steel and CHS Staff is the maroon and gold house for the Boys and Girls Club sponsored by Scribble Band.
