Chicago Ave. Road Closing for Rail Road Repairs

ec citylogoCanadian National needs to rebuild the rail road crossing at SR 312. This will result in the road being closed at the crossing which is just east of Huish Dr. The closure will begin on Monday, August 19, 2013 at 7 AM and end on Friday August 23, 2013 at 5 PM.

INDOT will handle the state road detour. Detour is as follows:

East bound through traffic will go north on US 20 ( Indianapolis Blvd. ) to US 12 ( Columbus Dr. ) and go East on US 12 to the SR 912 ( Cline Ave. ) Service Rd. and go South on the Service Rd. to SR 312. Westbound through traffic on SR 312 will use the same detour in the opposite direction.

Canadian National will handle a local detour that will take northbound traffic on Huish west a block to Kennedy and then north. Traffic signs advising of detour to be set up at 148 th St. and 149 th St. South of SR 312 and 500’ and 1,000’ North of SR 312. South bound traffic will use the same detour in the opposite direction. Canadian National will put up and maintain type 3 barricades at the crossing closure.

INDOT will handle all state route related matters, notices to oversize / overweight permits etc.

The East Chicago Emergency Management Agency will handle notifying emergency agencies, schools, hospitals, clinics and businesses Individually and via news and press releases as needed.
