Chesterton Middle School Observes World Autism Awareness Day

CMS-World-Autism-Awarness-DayChesterton Middle School students and staff wore blue to show their support of the seventh annual World Autism Awareness Day on Wednesday. Students and staff joined others in the world to “Light it Up Blue” for Autism Awareness.

This day shines a bright light on autism as a growing global health crisis. Activities help to increase and develop world knowledge of the autism epidemic and impart information regarding the importance of early diagnosis and early intervention. Mother and supporter of Autism Awarness, Rhonda King, encouraged to the school to join her in her mission. King’s autistic son Christian is a seventh grader at CMS. During the month of April, King hopes to speak to the students and staff about autism. She and her family will walk on May 17 in Chicago to raise funds for Walk Now Autism Speaks.
