Over 250 students of the Chesterton Middle School Music Department recently competed in the Indiana State School Music Association Organizational Contest. This year the competition was held virtually, with competing groups submitting video recordings to be adjudicated by three professional judges.
Each of the six bands, choirs, and orchestras received a Gold rating, and the 7th Grade Band received the special "With Distinction" honor due to their good scores. Only 35 middle school bands in the entire state scored this well.
CMS music directors are Erin Gerig (orchestra), Laura Gorski (choir) and Vince Arizzi (band).
