All Region Orchestra:
Several Chesterton Middle School orchestra students have been selected to participate in All Region Orchestra. Left to right, seventh grade students, Samantha Henderson, Maris Robinson, Karina Hansonand Joseph Adcock and eighth graders Nico Lovinello, Sarah Harmon, Sarah Schimpf and John Wheeler. Seventh grade students will play in the Allegro Orchestra under the direction of Ben Yoder from Hamilton Southeastern in Fishers, IN and eighth graders will play in the Vivace Orchestra under the direction of Dr. David Eccles from VanderCook College in Chicago, IL. Students will rehearse during the day on Saturday, November 14 then perform that afternoon at 4:30 p.m. in the Merrillville High School Auditorium. The concert is free and open to the public. The CMS orchestra director is Tom Schnabel.
All-Region Band:
Chesterton Middle School will have five students representing them at the 2014 Indiana Bandmasters Association North All-Region Honor Band on November 22 and 23. Those students are, left to right, Addie McElfresh, Alex Fine, Madison Ghoreishi, Nicholas DeRico and Anjali Dziarski. All-Region Honor Band will be hosted at Kankakee Valley High School in Wheatfield, Indiana and will include approximately 125 seventh, eighth, and ninth grade students representing 34 area schools. On Saturday, November 22 the students will spend the day in rehearsal and on Sunday, November 23, the students will participate in a dress rehearsal followed by a concert performance at 4:00 p.m.
