Chesterton High School Show Choirs Complete First Competition

CHS-Show-Choirs-Complete-First-Competition-01The Chesterton High School Show Choirs and Show Choir Band took their competitive fall shows on the road to Crawfordsville, Indiana for the 24th Annual Southmont Show Choir Invitational this past weekend. The groups competed against various groups from Illinois and Indiana.

The Drifters placed second runner-up in their division and had an incredible outing. “50% of that ensemble is made up of brand new members and it was exciting to see them have success at their first contest,” said Director Kristin Morris. The Sandpipers performed last in the preliminary round and their outstanding performance earned them a spot in finals, where they ended up placing third Runner-Up out of all the mixed groups that day.

Morris said that she could not have asked for better performances by the ensembles and that she is looking forward to many more opportunities to come. Senior member and one of the three Sandpiper dance captains, Audrey Stelzer said, "I am so proud of all our hard work that went into this weekend; both groups and the band did an amazing job and it was such a great way to start the season."

Up next…these hard-working students put away their sequins and dance shoes in order to don 16th Century costumes for the Chesterton High School 42nd Annual Madrigal Dinner. The event will be held on Friday, Dec. 5 at 8:00 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 6 at 4:00 & 7:00 p.m. and Sunday, Dec. 7 at 2:00 & 5:00 p.m. Tickets cost $30 per person and go on sale, Monday, Nov. 24 in the CHS Music Office.
