CHS Orchestras have selected senior Sarah Harmon as Concertmaster, and senior Sarah Schimpf as Assistant Concertmaster for the CHS Orchestras 2018-2019 season.
Both of these students earned this high honor through audition, application, years of private study, and past successful demonstration of musical leadership.
After the conductor, the concertmaster is the second-most significant leader in an orchestra. The concertmaster makes decisions regarding bowing and other technical details of violin playing for the violins, and sometimes all of the string players. They lead the orchestra in tuning before concerts and rehearsals, and other technical aspects of orchestra management.
