Chesterton High School Builds a Buddy Bench

Buddy-BenchThe Chesterton High School Building Trades class delivered and assembled a Buddy bench to Liberty Elementary School. The Buddy Bench is part of Liberty Elementary School's mission, Together We Can, to create a safe playing environment where everyone belongs. The Buddy Bench is a simple idea to eliminate loneliness and foster friendship on the playground. A student who doesn't have someone to play with sits on the bench, and other students know to ask him or her to join them.

Seated on the bench are second graders from Joyce Goodwin's class and fourth graders from Jason Conway's class, left to right, Landon Pinto, Syvanna Navarro, Abigail Fitzpatrick, Austin Russell, George Vrahoretis, Madelyn Schrenk. Standing are CHS students, front, Andrew Lloyd. Row 2, Matt Murfitt, Christian Hopkins, Andrew Eaton, Joel Garcia, Billy Mitchell, Damien Layne, Jacob Depung, Jason Boatright. Row 3, Nathan Braun, Eli Delacruz, Zach Mann. Row 4, Ian Hines and Chance Griffey. Back row, Nicholas Braun and Stelian Benus.
