Chesterton High School Announces 2013 Homecoming Candidates

CHS-FB-Homecoming-Candidates-2013Eight candidates have been chosen as the 2013 CHS Football homecoming royalty contestants. Four seniors were nominated for homecoming queen and two juniors and two seniors for king.

The four students nominated for queen are seniors Megan Homme, Hannah Sakelaris, Taryn Trusty and Malika Vick.

Homme, daughter of Barb Homme of Chesterton, is the Student Council and Senior class vice president, is a member of National Honor Society (NHS), Natural Helpers, and the tennis team. She is a volunteer for the Free the Girls Organization and a junior board member of Jacob’s Ladder Organization.

Sakelaris, daughter of John and Niki Sakelaris of Porter, is a member of Natural Helpers, NHS and Student Council. She is a Peer Tutor and is a volunteer with the State Park Little League Challengers baseball.

Trusty, daughter of David and Candy Trusty of Chesterton, is a member of NHS, Debate team, Business Professionals of America (BPA), Varsity Golf team and Tennis team. She is a volunteer for the Free the Girls Organization and a junior board member of Jacob’s Ladder Organization.

Virk, daughter of Monica and Kamal Virk of Chesterton, is the dance captain of the CHS Drifters, a member of NHS, Spanish club, Interact club and is a volunteer at St. Anthony’s.

The four students nominated for king are seniors Don Reinert and Connor Smith; and juniors Alex Genetski and James Jewison.

Reinert, son of Don and Mary Kay Reinert of Chesterton, is active on the CHS Debate team.

Smith, son of Ed and Donna Smith of Valparaiso, is active in CHS Wrestling and Football.

Genetski, son of Amber and Dennis Genetski, is Student Council treasurer, and is active in Varsity Cross Country, Track and Field and the CHS Debate team.

Jewison, son of Tom and Mary Jewison of Chesterton, is a member of the CHS Boys Tennis, Debate and Natural Helpers. Outside of school he is a member of a Bluegrass band.

The CHS homecoming king/queen will be chosen on Friday, Sept. 13 at halftime at the homecoming football game against Portage. The parade will begin at 4 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 13 from the Chesterton Middle School Pool parking lot, Porter Ave to Calumet, Calumet to Broadway, Broadway to Sixth and back to CMS.
