Celebrate ‘Da Region at 219 Day

HAMMOND, IN - January 29, 2020- Mayor Thomas M. McDermott, Jr. and the 219 Day Committee invite all Region residents over 21 years of age to join us for the fun, weird and wacky event that celebrates everything Region, 219 Day. The 219 Day is at the Hammond Civic Center on Saturday, February 15 from 6:00 to 11:00 pm.  This year, the event’s theme is “The Year of the Rat”, based on the Chinese Zodiac Calendar.  There will be a giant Rat Race obstacle course, chances to win “Beer Money”, Temporary Tattoos, Selfie Booth, Kung Fu Rat Piñata and more.  The event is free admission.

The live entertainment includes:  One Timer https://www.facebook.com/OneTimerMusic/, CoJack and Company https://www.facebook.com/CojackandCompany/ and Pearl Jam Tribute Chicago https://www.pearljamtributechicago.com/.  Various Region craft and domestic beers will be available for your enjoyment.  Misbeehavin’ Meads from Valparaiso is returning and mixed drinks will be available.  There will also be some wine and Pepsi products.  Food vendors exclusive to the Region will be on hand as well. 

T-shirts (photo attached) for the event will be available for purchase at www.219day.com.  Past T-shirts will also be available for sale at the event while supplies last.  New this year, in addition to the 219 Region knit hats (photo attached), there will be 219 baseball caps (photo attached) available for purchase at the event as well.

When you get there, be sure to sign our “You Know You’re From ‘da Region If…..” board posted all round the Civic Center.  For those who need a ride, a free shuttle bus will be traveling back and forth to the Hammond South Shore Line train station.  Visit www.mysouthshoreline.com for the current train schedule.
