Celebrate 50 Years of Lake Station at the 4th of July Parade

2014-lake-station-chamber-4th-of-julyCome Join us on the evening of July 3rd to celebrate in our Annual 4th of July Parade along with the 50th year of becoming a City. In 1964, the Town of East Gary became the City of East Gary and our Theme this year, “Rolling Along at 50!” combines our Silver Anniversary along with a Train theme. This honors the original founding of our town around the “Lake Station” as an early depot stop on the Michigan Central Railroads Detroit to Chicago line through the Calumet region back in 1852.

Applications for the parade will be going out in the mail to all previous participant of the parade and businesses. Any group who doesn’t get an application in the mail can pick them up at the Lake Station Mayor’s office starting on Monday, June 2nd, or by calling Bob Jonaitis, State Farm Insurance at 962-1700 or Bill Eaton at 962-1987. We hope you will be there for our Silver Anniversary Celebration and of course, the 238th anniversary of the founding of our great United States of America!
