Hooked-on-Art-Promo-2015Will you get hooked on art? Frontline Foundations Inc., a non-profit substance abuse treatment center is hoping to hook potential artists with a Best in Show Chalk Art Competition at their annual Hooked on Art – Live Street Art Festival. Held in downtown Chesterton on Saturday, September 26, participants will compete to decorate a 4x4 square with chalk art for cash prizes up to $1000.

“There will be multiple winners judged on creativity, quality, and originality,” said Derek Frazier, Frontline Development Director. “1st place will receive $1000, 2nd place takes $750, and 3rd receives $250.”

In hopes to encourage early registration, Frontline is offering a discount registration fee of $35 through May 31st. The regular registration fee is $50 from June 1st through August 31st. and based upon juried selection, participating chalk artists may be eligible to receive a free 10x10 vendor booth to promote their artwork.

“We encourage artists to apply early,” said Frazier. “They may apply by going online and downloading our Application form at www.HookedOnArtFestival.com.”

Frontline is also accepting Live Street Artists and Vendors. Sculpting, painting, and pottery are just a few of the things Live Street Artists may do to showcase their work, and may be eligible for a free vendor booth space. Proceeds from Hooked on Art benefit the mission of Frontline to provide operations support and treatment opportunities for young men and women in the community.

The family-friendly event won the 2014 R.O.S.E. award for Best Festival in Porter County. The Festival will take place again from 9-4pm in Thomas Centennial Park. Working in conjunction with Chesterton’s famous European Market, Hooked on Art will feature live music, unique food dishes, interactive kid’s activities, and a silent auction of Frontline’s client artwork.

Participants must be 18 or older. Individuals interested in being a Chalk Artist, Live Street Artist, or a Vendor may register by downloading an Artist Application at www.HookedonArtFestival.com.

“The Festival is a great way for artists to showcase their talent,” says Frazier, “and they can have a fun time doing what they love to support a wonderful cause.”
