Last week, Liberty Intermediate hosted their second annual Camp Invention, a one-week long summer enrichment experience for students going into grades 1-6. The science camp exposed students to the fields of science, technology, engineering and mathematics and presents essential STEM concepts through the most creative hands-on activities that are fun and inspiring. The camp is free to schools and organizations that host the program nationwide and features collaborative learning opportunities led by local teachers in a safe environment. Pictured is Liberty Intermediate School teacher Sue Gore assisting Enrico Ortega-Chick with his CrickoBot, a robotic cricket the students’ designed that move using a vibrating motor and counter balance.

Duneland Elementary School students, left to right, Caden Koedyker, Will Roberson and Wolfgang Lutterman participated in the week-long science camp hosted at Liberty Intermediate exposing them to the fields of science, technology, engineering and mathematics. During the week, students sketched and devised clean green energy designs for a faux tourist attraction named Epic Park. Students designed tree houses that integrated simple machines, discovered Epic Park’s ecological diversity and unique terrain, built prototypes and models of innovative eco-adventures and pitched their Epic Park models for the chance to be co-owners by creating a commercial.
