Cal Ripken World Series Brings International Team to Crown Point

Baseball fever will be taking over Crown Point August 5-12 for the Cal Ripken 10U World Series! 24 teams from around the world will travel to Indiana to showcase their skills.

Teams will be competing from, IN, PA, KY, FL, ID, MA, CA, MN, FL, HI, AR, WI, AL, RI, OR, KS, NC and Australia! “There isn’t always an international team, but each year the goal is to have one,” stated Joel Boomsma, VP of Crown Point Youth Baseball. “David Uran and his team at the South Shore CVA have been amazing to work with, and we couldn’t have made this event happen without them.”

This year is the largest pool of teams at the 10U division with nearly 400 players. All the games will be played at the CPCR Fields, located at Jerry Ross Park, 341 W. North Street. The facility, which is located near downtown and just off the square, is one of the best in the area, with three turf fields, six outdoor batting cages, and stadium-like seating on their primary “Majors” field.

“We’re thrilled to welcome teams from around the world to the South Shore for this World Series,” stated Megan Goodan, SSCVA Chief Sports & Leisure Officer. “Teams are here for 10+ days competing on the baseball diamond, and when they're not on the field we hope they are making memories, building new friendships and enjoying all of the unique attractions, shopping and dining experiences Northwest Indiana has to offer."

Competition will hit the ground running once pool play begins Saturday morning August 5. Games will start around 10am, with the last game commencing at 7pm. Also, there will be constant action at the facility, as the schedule is designed for two games to go on at the same time throughout pool play.

All of the games will be streamed live on regionsports.com, as well as the Region Sports YouTube channel and Facebook page.
