The Coffee Creek Watershed Preserve is hosting Stewardship Saturday on June 14 from 9:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m. at the Pavilion located at 157 E Sidewalk Rd. During this event, participants will be monitoring the quality of water at Coffee Creek to keep track of what bugs and other life are in the water.
This event is a great experience for families to get outdoors and participate in a stewardship activity where everyone can help out and learn at the same time. Since Coffee Creek has the healthiest creek in all of Indiana, it is important to keep it clean and ensure clean drinking water for our community.
“Stewardship Saturdays is a great way for families to work side by side making a difference in the environment and working IN the creek,” said Executive Director Katie Rizer of Coffee Creek Watershed Preserve.

Ivy Tech and Indiana University Northwest students just began a regular water-monitoring program that will continue for the next year. This Stewardship Saturday event will be open to the public and no experience is necessary. It is a fun way to get the community involved in helping the environment.
This event was made possible by Enbridge and their Environmental Stewardship Grant. Enbridge also donated waders for both children and adults so everyone can get up close and personal with the Coffee Creek waters. Although thousands of people visit the Creek Overlook, only a handful will be able to become citizen scientists this Saturday.
The Coffee Creak Watershed Conservancy is a 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to identifying, maintaining and enhancing the remnant biodiversity of the Coffee Creek watershed while providing educational and recreational experiences for all.
